    1990 150 Pro V rpm issues

Friend of mine has a 1990 150 Pro V on a 1994 Stratos 275 XL. Has a 23 Laser 2 prop on it and is have a hard time getting out of the hole and is only getting 4800 rpms and 51 mph at top speed. The engine has been in saltwater. Compression is around 120 on all cylinders. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Gas, gas line, timing, prop size, primer bulb, it could be a lot of things. Compression is good so unlikely to be something too bad. When mine was running about the same RPMs it turned out it was my gas line rotted out in the tube to the engine. I forget what it's called now, but it's the black plastic casing that runs from the boat to the engine. Tough to get everything put back in there once you get it all out, too.
