    Nitro Z6 hull

I have a 2014 Nitro Z6. Last year as I was washing it I noticed a quarter size piece of fiberglass missing. Upon looking into it further I noticed the gel coat had spider webbed about a 5 foot radius around the area. Also the fiberglass had a crack between the bottom and side of the boat. I knew I hadn’t hit any thing hard stump, rock etc. I took it to my local Bass Pro and they said it would have to be repaired by insurance. So with that being said insurance paid out to have it fixed. Well all has been good then last week I was fishing in a tournament and hit two large wakes from 2 boats passing me. I was only at about 30mph when hitting the second wake. I noticed that my boat was driving odd after that unless I was fully on plane. When I loaded the boat after the tournament I noticed the same side it had been fixed on had a chunk of fiberglass missing and the same crack between the bottom and side of the boat. So my question is should boats do this just from hitting wake alone?

Not even a Nitro should do this.

I didn’t think so I mean the first wake I caught it went airborne but I have been with friends that have tritons and have hit much bigger wakes going at a lot higher speeds and does no damage to their boats.

If you're the original owner, you should be contacting Nitro....if not then talk to the glass shop that did the repair. That don't sound right at all.

Something is really wrong with the boat. Get BPS involved to find out what is going on.

Thank you all for the comments. From what I have learned from researching this isn’t uncommon with the hulls of the older Nitros. Just very frustrating during the middle of the season and my boat will be out for at least 3 weeks of not longer.

Ever seen the Ranger board here, plenty of issues and complaining. As a matter fact every cookie cutter boat board here has guys complaining about all manner of things and trying to get help correcting them.

...and because insurance touched it, Nitro will say “not our problem” with everything relating to the hull.

Well 23k for an entry level boat is not to cheap in my opinion. But like I said before this is my first fiberglass boat and I thought since Nitro was a large name like Ranger and Trition that it would be a good starter boat.

If it were me, I would try and find a good hull to switch everything over too.

I've had no problems out of my 12 year old nitro.
My only regret is not buying a bigger one.

I wouldn't take any 17 foot bass boat out on Lake Erie... Unless I had a death wish...

I'd take it back to the shop that did the original repairs... Get you insurance company involved... Dan
