    Project 21XD Bullet. Setup Recommendations

Will be picking up a clean & solid 1996 single console 21XD tomorrow.

It has a 225 Johnson Venom on it currently but i am buying the boat for the hull and trailer as it is mint.

I will be looking to re-power the boat with a Mercury 250 optimax. (either Pro XS or Sport XS).
The boat does have the added transom bracing for the 3.0L.

Getting my check list down now of where to start with the re-powering.

    What LU would be best?
What prop for fishing & Top end?
Setback? (boat has a manual 12 inch JP on it now but will replace with hydraulic)
What can i expect top end with the right setup?

I am going to keep the trolling motor setup as 24V.

    Any feedback is appreciated. Phil

Torquemaster 28 bullet cut performer,12 or 14 rapid jack with 2.5 degrees extra angle no need for hydraulic. Workout ball inside of jackplate. 3.0 litre Allison foil and plate for bottom of jackplate. Mid 80s should be achievable

28 BravoXS, 14" rapid Jack with a foil. It will have a good hole shot run 80 loaded.

250xs torque master 1:62 14” 1 3/4 under buy 28p bravo have that prop sent out to get pitch down 27.5 boat will run 84-85 depending on your driving skill and weight. I pick bravo for holeshot as the promax has more slip.

The reason for my pick of a 28 is because they only make bravos in even pitch the 27.5 bravo is a 26p just added cup.

Or a 28 that has been de-cupped. Most props can only be increased by one degree st most. If it started as a 26 it ain’t a 27.5

You're going to need a Gen 1 TM Lower. The Gen 2s are way to hard to set up. Upper fishing speed is about 81.5. You're best bet for props will be an old Razor 26 or 27 or a 27 ProMax. NOBODY in our neighborhood is getting 85 out of a 21/250 so don't expect it with a stock 250. Call me if you need a hand.

    And with a 250 /gen 1, I wouldn't worry about a hydraulic jackplate. You won't see much benefit from it , just get a 14" Rapid jack.

    I had a 2004 21XDC with a 2005 250XS with a sporty with 1:62's for fishing and when it got hot I ran a 26p Signature Eagle 4, when it was cool I ran a 28p
