    Vertical fishing

So after a different post by Troyboy I went out this weekend and tried some and actually caught a few nice crappie so thank you for that, but now I have more questions .
1- I want to say in the sonar tab the a beam width what does it do, more to the point it is better to run wide or narrow ?
2- chirp frequency’s is there a “best” range or should I be running the full spectrum?
unit is helix 10 si mega g2n

Spec coverage for Full spectrum and Wide is 42 degrees. Narrow is 25 degrees. That is for a MEGA DI unit or MEGA SI unit with added MEGA DI transducer using the Dual Spectrum DI transducer.

The deeper the water, the less coverage you want since 2D coverage is a somewhat cone shape.

DOk somewhere around 20-28 ft is about as deep as it gets. When I update my power drive I’ll have to get one with the sonar built in. I looked like a dog chasing it’s tail yesterday from the transom of my jon boat . Lol thanks for the help guys!

Mega 10 si. Here is med/high chirp. Speed 4 drop shot. I guess the default is wide?

Can I set up a preset button for vertical fishing? Narrow, high chirp, slower speed etc?

You don't have "Wide" as a frequency choice. Only using a Dual Spectrum DI transducer has that selection.

Your choices for coverage are 83, 200, 83/200 kHz or CHIRP Med, High, Med/High.
83 and Med are 60 degrees spec coverage.
200 and High are 20 degree spec coverage.
83/200 or Med/High is 60/20 degree spec coverage.

No there is no "preset" button for menu settings.

Anyone know if the new ultrex with the in-head mega transducer includes the low q as well?

same way we fish here for spots most of the year. only difference is we are fishing brush piles or submerged timber instead of rocks
