I don't quite understand why the FAA doesn't require a certificate to fly one. These are one of the things on my list to see at OSH18. I'll see if I can get a idea on a price and report back in a couple of weeks.

As far as the "no license required" ...there are MANY small airplanes that do not require the training and licenses of full-sized planes. That's been the case for as long as I can remember.

At least this company is making buyers go through the paper training before letting them fly.

I remember lusting over a number of the "No license" planes the last time I went to Oshkosh...perhaps 7 or 8 years ago.

Says the price of an suv also fyi. I've always thought in my lifetime something like this would start and maybe become the norm. Looks like it may be sooner rather than later. Very cool

Batteries are the Hold Back item on so very much progress.

If proper battery storage could be accomplished, Solar/wind and even hydropower would all be used far more than they are today. We've got the power (sun, wind, water) but we cant store it's output for when we need it,...if it is dark or not windy.

I read a lot of "stuff" and there are more attempts to solve the battery issues than anything else.

the battery problem is 2 fold. First is the power drain and 2nd, which is most problematic, is the weight. Looks to me like this thing will create it's own wind which could be used to charge the batteries indefinitely.

Ahhh, Infinite power/energy. Perpetual Motion. More money has been lost, over the centuries, on that unattainable idea than most other ideas that are impossible. Due to friction and many other losses, a device cannot charge itself forever.

Well the theory is sound... the technology maybe not so much. Indefinitely doesn't have to mean forever without repair. I think it comes down to how much power can be generated. Not enough is the short answer with todays technology or it would be on every ship, plane, car out there. But hey... this is all a step in the right direction!

    Couldn't agree more!

"Progress is our most important product!" Hard to believe that that statement used to be the Biggest advertisement for General Electric, which is now on its last legs.

I had a co worker that built an ultralight in his barn. He never had a license or any training and Lewis a lot. After he became familiar with it and fairly skilled in flew with him a couple times and loved it. I'd love to have one of these things and learn to fly it.
