Thinking about fishing Smith lake in September

I was wanting to come up and fish Smith in early September. Anyone suggest any pointers or what I need to expect?

All depends on the weather. If it’s hot they’ll be deep. You have to throw underspins and drop shots. If it gets cool, they will be up schoooling any time during the day.

SesFarm - 100% agree with Joey - it could be fun (if the weather is cooler leading up to/during your trip) but could be tough if the water is still warm/weather hot. I fish the lake quite a bit between October-April - mostly for a lower number of pleasure boaters. They can be a significant issue when the water/weather is still warm enough to ski/wakeboard/etc...but early and sometimes late you can avoid them to some degree. Small swimbaits/underspins, shakeyheads/DS and a topwater at the ready and you'll catch some - but it can definitely be tough.

    Good luck.
