Constantly using jumpstart. What battery do you guy use?

Currently I have 2x hds7 and 1x hds9 hooked up to the cranking battery. When my pumps are on, and I don’t move for over an hour, I will have to use the jumpstart.

Brand new group 29 battery that’s get charged with my 4 bank charger everytime when I’m back.

Does everyone have the same same issues with the battery not lasting very long?

You might want to step up to a group 31 AGM. I'd recommend Northstar (rebranded sears pm1, great battery), batteries plus X2 (beast battery), Dekalb battery, and or an Optima D31m (this is what I had for 4 years. Never gave me a problem after sitting in spots for long periods of time)

    I've got (4) X2 AGM 31 series. Zero issues.

Just curious cc3111986, what brand is your battery....?

Had the same issue with my original battery after two seasons. Put in the X2 form Batteries Plus and haven't looked back!

X2 is my pick as well. Someone mentioned the PM1 was made by Northstar but I'm pretty sure it was built by Trojan (battery company) I was not impressed with the longevity of my PM1 whatsoever.

Odyssey made the PM1 for Sears . You can still buy the same battery with their name on it.

Here’s a question along the same lines... when I search the 31AGM batteries, why do the prices vary so much. Anywhere from $159-$450. Is there that much difference in markup or different capabilities? The ones that everybody’s recommending are around $340-400.

Batteries plus bulbs x2 for me. I run a elite 12ti and 9ti sonic hub all day livewells constantly running if there is a fish in them and 2 10ft blades and compartment lights and have not had the first issue with it. And it still starts my 225 pro xs as soon as I touch the key. It cost somewhere around 400 but I found it on sale and got it for 300 and it has a 48 month warranty

That seems very fast for your battery to go on you like that, I would check for a short or depending on your battery age, you may have some dead cells in that battery. I use my crank for my Livewell , livewell timer, HDS12 and HDS9 as well as power poles and have fished tourneys and covered lots of ground before cranking again with no issues.

I've been using a Deka 8A31DTM since 2009. It's used to start my 2007 Evinrude 225 HO and run my electronics and live wells without issue. It's worked well and I replaced it after five years of service.

group 29 wet cell Interstate , and get 7 yrs out of them. like the old style can add water to if needed, but only had to 1 battery, in years.. winter i take out and just store full charge in shed. and hook up charger once a month to let run cycle then they sit. And i never run them down to dead lolo. also use same batt for truck, then if ever need at lake just swap out. whichonldy did that once too lolo.

You don't state the model/year of the engine you have? OEM's state the minimum CCA required for there engines. This dictates minimum battery size. Add your MFD's and other amp draws and you can calculate what battery you need. No guess work.

Odyssey was under contract with Sears for the PM1's for a few years. I was using the Odyssey 31M-PC2150ST batteries prior to the PM1's and will be replacing my expiring PM1's with that same battery when they die. You can get them shipped to your door or Batteries Plus carries them too.

Note: EnerSys is the primary OEM for Odyssey who also makes the batteries for most all of the military equipment including the Hawker batteries for the HMMWV's and aviation batteries for our military aircraft.
This is not an automotive battery company making marine batteries.
