Mercury shuts off when using trim?

My 2018 Mercury 225hp pro xs stops running when I use the trim.
I also notice that both my Helix 10’s shut off when I start the engine. Please
    help

I was thinking the same thing. What size and make cranking battery would
you recommend? I run two helix 10’s.

The highest rated Grp31 battery you can find. It won’t be cheap either but you do need it.

I use the X2 from Batteries Bulbs Plus.... There is currently a rebate and 10% if you order online and pickup at the store. https://www.batteriesplus.com/batter...1m/sli31agmdpm

Thank you for the info. I ended up buying a Cableas
AGM group 31 battery with1150 cold cranking amps.
Fished a tourney today and it happened again. I was running down the lake
just fine and then when I hit the trim on the console, the engine quit. I turned the perko switch
and on/off engine switch, waited and then the engine worked along with the trim. Later in the day it happened again.
I am going to take it to my dealer since they wired my boat.

Under the cowling check the connections where the battery cables attach to the motor. One may be loose.

It ended up being a loose nut securing the wires going into my
    on/off perko switch.

Do you really need the perko switch, I see a lot of issues of excessive voltage drop across them. I wont use them on my boats for that very reason, in many cases that top of the line 1000 cca battery may be only 600 cca after the switch or less...……...More switches and connections = more problems
At least do a volt drop test across it while cranking the motor, you might be suprized

Yes. The power poles and helix’s draw some current
from the cranking battery even when off. The perko switch
makes sure everything is off. Thank you for the info.

Make sure that "Perko switch" is rated for the capacity you need. These type of switches have current limits and yours may be insufficient. To confirm, bypass the switch and temporarily connect your engine cables direct to the battery. If your problem goes away, you know it's the switch.

Edit: Missed your followup it was a loose connection on the switch. Might still confirm switch is rated for the capacity you need just to be sure.

With the better Chargers we have to day with float modes, that should never be a problem unless you have no power due to where it is parked

And this is why you check all the basics when you have electrical issues, especially when it already has a basically new battery. You will find "buy a bigger battery" as a solution all over the forum, when in reality it's often just a connection.

    Amen.....
I also think every boat owner should own a battery tester and check their batteries monthly. There are testers out there for less than $100 dollars that are 95% accurate
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Most of these applications are REQUIRED to have a battery switch due to the CCA Rating of the battery. USCG Regulation as I recall...

However, most of the switches being installed are marginal (at best) in their current-carrying capacity.

Battery and Battery Terminal Connections are equally as important (and equally overlooked too, I might add).
