My son uses a Drone for his Tree Service, faster to buzz up and around trees and check out, before he goes up in the Bucket with saws etc. takes aerial before shots and afterward shots. when done. also handy to see condition of roof tops, silos, storage tanks, big advertising signs on store fronts etc . local painter, sand blasts and repaint gas storage tanks etc. Hires him to use the bucket, to make his job quicker and safer.. Son says that's Gravy Work. as he just sharpens a lot of spare chain saw chains.. has 6 saws and about 8 chains each, to swap out as needed on job.. , while the guy does his work. He gets called for those & similar jobs besides just cutting down treesoh yea big enuff to carry a cold canned beverage up to bucket too haha
How much for the drone that is required?

Seeing water depth changes, looking for busting fish, shad balls. Record the shore at winter pool.
Have you ever fished Okeechobee, you can use it to see over the grass new lanes in the grass.
What’s over the grass line, open water etc.

Look at this picture, Do you chance the time to push thru with the TM to see what lies ahead or do you stay out and fish on forward or back out and leave??

with a drone you can see whats around and how much grass you have to go thur, Or see that you have nothing but bank and need to go somewhere else.
the grass changes all the time on O and grass flats drift around.
Just don't fly it on lake Lanier, because its not allowed!!!! The Whole World is good but lake Lanier!!! and I think you just can't fish with one, so you can't drag lure behind one to catch fish, nothing about observing the lake just can't hunt of fish with one, What ever fishing with one or hunting with it includes!!!

Realy? Banned? All lakes? How did they do that? Can’t fly them at all? Or just fish with one? I’ve seen a lot of house footage shot from drones when I was house shopping last year.

Found it on usace web site. New rules as of this month. Can’t at all. Unless you get permission 30days prior. They are prohibiting the takeoff and landing from any usace land, water or lease. As they know the faa rules the airspace. Very interesting.

sorry, most lakes. my local ones at least being core lakes
yea they just lightened up a bit. but you still have to register with the faa and other crap just to fly a drone these days. too many idiots ruined it for the rest of us

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages Lake Lanier, is clarifying its policy for the use of drone aircraft, allowing their use on corps property only with the corps’ permission.
Requests can be submitted locally to the corps’ Lake Lanier office in Buford, which will then send applications to the corps’ district office for approval, Chief Ranger Chris Arthur said.
The corps’ local office received a directive from the national headquarters in 2014, according to Nick Baggett, natural resources manager with the corps. The corps has made recent efforts to remind people of the policy, he said.
Baggett said examples of requests for drone use the corps has received include for sporting events and by real estate agents looking to shoot video of a home’s dock and lake area for a listing.
“Our position has been as long as you operate that drone responsibly from the private property, we will allow you to do that and not necessarily address it until it becomes a safety issue for the public or until you start harassing people with that drone,” Baggett said.
Baggett said the corps has received some complaints about drones on beaches, with some people feeling their privacy had been violated. Drones can also be distracting to boaters, Baggett said.
People who are on corps property cannot operate a drone without permission. Anyone who is standing, swimming or boating on the lake would also need to submit a request because they are on corps property, Baggett said.
Anyone found to be operating a drone on corps property without permission would be approached by a ranger and asked to stop. Depending on the situation, the operator could receive a verbal warning, a citation asking them to go to court or a fine, Baggett said.
Anyone with questions about the policy or application process can contact the corps’ local office at 770-945-9531.
Requests should be sent in 30 days in advance and should include the applicant’s name, contact information, intended date for using the drone and a map of the location, and the license and training certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration for the person who will be controlling the drone.
Requests can be submitted by mail to the Lake Sidney Lanier Project Managers Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at 1050 Buford Dam Road in Buford, Georgia 30515.
this will be applied to all core lake around the country eventually. most mapping cards these days offer sat images. you can even go back years with google maps
No not all,or corrected after being called out to most, it’s one lake, and you can fly if you ask!!!
