    Rubrail PM

I need to do this on my Z20. How do I get this insert back in though?

When I did mine I wet it down with windex and banged it back in with a rubber mallet. Next time I think I will use a solution with more soap in it.

insert the top into the groove and then pry the bottom in with a wide blade screwdriver. do it in small sections about 6" at a time. finish up with the rubber mallet. A little lubricant helps and a warm day helps.

Park her out in the sun to soften the rub rail insert. remove the inset from the stern to the bow on one side of the boat. Take the loose screws out one at a time and coat them with sealant (I have used marine RTV successively in the past) when reinstalling the screws turn them backwards until you feel them drop into the old threads and then tighten. Spray the insert with silicone and take a clean undamaged plastic putty knife to guide the bottom of the insert with one hand and the other hand to guide the top of the insert into place 6 inches ahead of the putty knife walking from the bow to stern. Easy peasy.
