I have noticed a slow leak of blueish oil coming from the engine, is this gear oli, should I be very concerned about this?
How much does it cost to replace this seal?

thank you!
What color oil are you running in your motor? It may be an oil drip from up above. Remove the upper vent screw from the lower unit and use a zip tie like a dipstick to check the condition and color of the fluid in the lower.
OK, thanks for the tip. Its a new (to me) boat, I have not serviced it myself yet.
I am pretty sure it is gear lube, smells like gear lube. I am in the process of changing the tilt/trim motor, and have now seen enough hydraulic fluid to know that it is not that..
It could be leaking because I have the motor trimmed up so high
That's a long way for the fluid to climb up to drain out of the shift rod housing, up the shift rod and then out the midsection but I've seen stranger things. You'll have to drop the lower unit to see if it is leaking from the housing. The tip for using the zip tie was to see what color your LU fluid is and save you from dropping the lower. If you are premixing then no worries but if you are using the VRO I'd check the belly pan for leaking oil.
I am not premixing
I would take a peek in the belly pan and give it a quick look for oil.
Makes a lot of sense, thank you
carb residue from tilting up motor maybe?s
