Well we go to the Outer Banks, NC twice a year and my wife rides in the back seat with our two cats so the larger space back there and the flat floor is a benefit. And if you wanted to carry large items in the back you put the seats up and you have a very large space. Could be a benefit if you had a solid tonneau cover and had limited space (height) with it closed.

Love the big back seat in my f150 for the same reasons, except dog instead of cats. I use it way more than putting stuff in the bed.

Love my eco diesel almost 50k on a 2016 of flawless miles. I did do the gde tune with under 10k. I also loved my f150 with the ecoboost. Next truck will be another ram or f150. Not sure I’ll go diesel again in a 1500 cause I miss the eco boost power. That truck was a beast. I also miss the flat large f150 back seating area.

If you want a half ton diesel, wait 1 year and all 3 manufacturer's will be selling them, giving you much more choices

Im not a GM fan but they will be making there own unlike Ford and FCA. It will be a Inline 6 so it might be a real beast. Competition is a good thing.

Consumer Reports is a joke ,money talks with them ,prof is not only on a ram but every lthing they test or do a survey on .We have had 10 rams and 4 dodge suv never had a problem out of any of them since 2010 .My buddy worked at Chrysler he’s retired and has had 20 plus dodge cars and trucks and never has had a problem.Cars I have no idea as we buy another brand and that would be another argument.I worked for a dealer (other brand)for 12 years drove that brand and all I can say is Iam glad I worked there because ever car I bought had problems.I will be a ram owner till something better comes out and I don’t see anything in the near future that’s better.

It's not a joke. Consumer Reports is legit.

The magazine accepts no advertising, pays for all the products it tests, and as a nonprofit organization has no shareholders.

It seems to me that vandamit is asking about "long term" ownership and not buying a vehicle every year or two, I would hope no-one would have any problems with a new model no matter what brand it is for the first year or three.....and if they do it's covered under warrenty. Since he seems to be inquiring about Ram does anyone have one that is 5 years or older and had no problems other than regular maintanence ?

Our 12 has 148,000 13 has 170,000 our 10 had 135,,000 and the 06 had 175,000 the 07 had 130,000 the 03 had 248,000 all the rest have been 20,000 to 80,000 I don’t think there’s any better test .The 06 and 10 were our car hauler which towed cars 120 miles 5-6 times a week ,at 168,000 it needed a water pump.We use the crap out of them .At 160,000 we had to put a transmission controll module in the 13 (250 bucks )other than that its tires and oil changes. The eco diesel had 20,000 and the 15 had 45,000 we have a 17 now we have 12 (148,000) and waiting for second year ram 2020 to come out.Theres your long term test trust me if they were in the shop all the time I would be looking else where.Do they build a lemon yes as does everyone but we have had really good luck with the rams.I guess in other words the rams have been the cheapest trucks and suv to own from start to finish.
Kinda funny here’s my buddy 07 with 50,000 and it has the lifetime warranty from dodge 0 rust and he has never used the warranty yet which we laugh about because if it didn’t have a lifetime warranty it would be a problem child

And many times you pay a lot more than necessary to get what you want.

I have a 2014 ecodeisel and it's been an extremely solid truck for me. I went ahead and did the GDE tune and it made me love love it even more. Better mileage and really woke the truck up. I've only used my truck to tow my boat all over the us and am right at 50k and it's been solid!

I have always found them to be pretty biased myself. They always praise the same and bash the same it never changes. Seems its always the imports that get the nod at least from what i get out of it. Never thought i would own a mopar product but im impressed so far. Performance wise its second to none they flat get with it.

I am a Ford guy. Always have been. I have a F150 Eco. Wife has a Taurus Limited. Daughter and son drive mustangs. None have been in the shop other than preventive maintenance.
With that said, I believe the new Ram trucks are hard to beat. They have the best looking interior. Engines are proven. The Eco diesel seems to lack in acceleration badly, but makes up for it in torque and fuel economy. As said many times above...for the price, you cant go wrong. All brands will have their pro's and cons's, but we are living in good times where the competitive truck market has made them all reliable!

On a side note, what the hell did Chevy do to the new Silverado??? It looks like the bastard child of all three major brands! Interior screams late model Pontiac!
I have many die hard Chevy guys that aren't happy! Like everything except the Pontiac Aztek, I am sure it will grow on them!

I'm driving a 17 RAM BigHorn quad cab 4wd with Hemi. Very comfortable ride, lots of power, transmission very smooth. Mileage isn't the greatest with the Hemi. I get about 16 around town, close to 20 on trips. Tons of room inside. Similarly equipped models from other makers were thousands more. Very roomy in the cab. I'd buy another.
