Props / speeds just for conversation

So, since I bought my BasSport Pro last October, I have been for the most part serving as a captain for my son's high school team every time I've been in the boat or pre-fishing for one of their tournaments. I still have not ran the boat solo, my son has been with me every time I've been able to go.

Last couple of weeks he and I made a few runs to try a couple of different props.

All runs had basically the same load:

    XB-21 BasSport Pro / 250 sport XS / 1:62

    3/8-1/2 fuel
At least 1/2 full live wells
Me (185#) and my son (170#)
    14 rods/reels
    All of our tackle
    Spare prop in case
    Extra gallon of oil
    Small toolbox
    36V ulterra
    3 groups 27 lead acids
Group 27 cranking optima passenger rear compartment
Rainsuits, extra life jackets, 12" boat fenders, food, cooler full of ice and drinks, etc.

    My 27 TXP
    4 pvs holes all open
    86.X at 6000 rpms and 25 h2o psi.
3/8"-1/2" above the pad (I realized after I loaded on trailer that I still had another 1/8-1/4" to come up on hydro plate)
    Great midrange

    My 27 Hyrdo
    8 pvs holes all open
    86.X at 5900-6000 rpms and 25 h2o psi.
3/8"-1/2" above the pad (I realized after I loaded on trailer that I still had another 1/8-1/4" to come up on hydro plate)
    Sucky midrange

Friends 27 pro max tweaked for a Bullet 21SS/300Xs
8 pvs holes, 4 plugs with small hole
88.X barely bumping limiter and 20-22 h2o psi.
Running this prop I bumped the hydro plate up to 1/2-5/8" above so it was a bump higher than the other 2 props.
Great midrange and best hole shot of the 3.

Due to the fact that I ran the pro max a bump higher, the speeds are pretty close. The temps were 88-93* with high humidity on all the runs.

With what I consider a pretty heavily loaded boat, I'm happy with the numbers for summer heat and two people.

Back in late spring, we ran 84.5 mph with the same load as above but full fuel, 3 people, extra rods and extra tackle in slightly cooler temps. These boats carry loads so impressive.

I also didn't hold it at WOT for real long stretches, maybe could've squeezed out another .5-1 mph if I had.

Not fast compared to some of you guys but just posting for conversation starter.

That's running great for the load you're carrying.

Question for you, how is the hole shot with the different props? I'm struggling to find one comparable to the stock 26 Bravo 1 XS or the worked 25 Hydro I cracked.

I should have timed the hole shots for each but I didn't.

The pro max was the best of the three but I don't consider any of them bad.

I will try to time them when we do some running next week.

I like to tweak the setup like most guys but I'm definitely satisfied with it.

When I set that boat up last July, we learned it was an extremely fast hull/engine!!!

It ran 91-92 solo loaded to fish after fishing all night in the pouring down rain! The boat was soaked.

Rookie drivers are sometimes best for top end runs because they don't have enough experience to be scared.

When the potential dangers of high speed runs becomes a reality because of an unexpected event, one will never need a rev limiter again because your "throttle foot" will have its own built in rev limiter which will be much lower than the one in your ECU.

You are correct sir! My rev limiter gets lower and lower and my right foot gets lighter and lighter the older I get!

I need to get that wisdom. I’m almost 60 and my stupid foot keeps getting heavier and heavier.

The most direct method of acquiring that wisdom isn't something you want to unwillingly participate in.

I remember when you had your incident. I sure don’t want to “know” how that feels.
