    Exclamation 1978 Champion V-hull

Getting ready to pick up this project tomorrow...it has a really small back deck as most know....in my research I found one that was a later year and supposedly the same length.

That one has what looks to be a larger rear deck... could some one tell me if in fact it did or maybe his wasn't a 16'8".... if it is did they just move the seats up and shorten the front deck? Screenshot_20180710-204634_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20180710-204704_Gallery.jpg

The link to the boat with bigger back deck....http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....light=champion

The rear decks look about the same to me...Of course, I could be wrong. I have some older brochures at home, so will check over the weekend to see if any difference is shown. Am at a friend's house right now..as she had knee surgery yesterday.

If they are the same 16'8" length did they just move the seats up to accomplish that?

Once in a while when someone new posts, the first couple of posts require approval (not sure why it happens as we don't have any forum set to require approval). It only happens rarely and when it does, after that new member has made a couple of posts it sorts out. This is what happened to your first post.

So I finally got the boat to the house...

Can any of you help me with the fuel tank fill hose? Am I missing something? Wrong type hose... it was there but actually think it was just replaced because I couldn't get the fuel cap off because the retainer chain was stuck between the hose and tube.? Or just an old hose that's too stiff?

Well..I edit pictures to the right size and thought I could add them... either it is still being new or I just can't figure out how this site works... I'll spend some time trying to figure it out.

Looks similar to the gas tank in our old Jeep.

Well I guess that makes sense.....I would of never thought of that because of the date on the sticker. It is a marine tank built in 1977.

Guess I'll go looking for a hose with a preformed bend that will work with it.

You should be able to find a plastic tank. I would NOT EVEN trust a metal tank that old, it's got to have gunk on layers of gunk in it.

Try C&O, they might have what you need.

Seen those tanks before. Yes, it's old and time to replace. I remember when the old champs had 2 separate 6 gallon metal tanks tank you could pull in and out. When you ran out of ful you switched your fuel line to the other one. They didn't last long...

Remember the early Champs hulls were rigged by the dealers so lord only knows what's still floating around out there. Pretty much running lights, plumbing and pumps were done by Champ. Everything else was rigged up by the dealers. Engines, TM, Trailers etc.
