New to the forum. Thanks for the join. My current boat is a 1995 Stratos 201 pro XL DC with a 1995 Evinrude intruder 175. Wanting to know what size jack plate is recommended for this boat. I'm eventually going to repower to a bigger motor. So I want the plate to e sufficient enough. Thanks for the help

Used to hang on a now-gone Stratos Board. Those guys had set-ups all over the place from 6"-12" depending on years and motors. If you go with a base-line 6" plate right now, it should serve you adequately throughout. You can add 2" spacers to extend that if you bump up as high as 225 hp which is what your hull is rated max. I have a '95 201 PE single with a 200 Venom hanging from a 6" Detwiler and don't worry about it. Trying to dope out the last tenth of mph is a lot of farting around for not - been there done that. You won't want to hang on more than an 8" with that age hull anyway. Stratos didn't warrant bigger that 8" when yours was new. That's a clue.

I have a 1997 201 ProXLDC with a 2001 225HO Johnson. I have an 8" HiJacker jackplate and this setup has been fine for me. I use a 25 Renegade 4 blade prop that Mark Croxton blueprinted for me. I fish Kentucky Lake alot and this rig handles rough water well.
