    Transducer location

    2007 Triton TR196.

Where is the best location to mount a Lowrance LSS-2 structure scan transducer for my HDS 9 Gen 3?

Not sure why it turned sideways

I mounted my HB transducer under the jack plate (attached to the plate).

I just have no clue because the LSS-2 is like 8" long. It's huge

Drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom on the right side (starboard) of jackplate and just mount the bracket there with a SS bolt and nylock nut. That's the way most of us have done it. Keeps you from having to drill holes in the hull and you aren't gonna need the SS transducer while you are on plane anyway so when you are running down the lake it's out of the water.

Are you talking the right bottom corner of the jackplate itself? The motor doesn't interfere with the side imaging in that location?

Kinda like in this thread but this looks like a screw and not a bolt. No way I'd use a screw. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....+scan+mounting

I have noticed some get mounted to the first step down of the transom. Is this a good spot too? Doesn’t bother me at all to drill two holes in the transom. There was a previous transducer in the transom.

I have a 186 and mine is screwed into the bottom of the transom setback with just a silicone pad, the screws are sealed with 5200. It sticks out a couple inches past the transom. The images I get are as good as I've seen anywhere

If you don’t want to screw to the fibreglass I made my own bracket, works great, see below

It didn’t take long to make and you can use the space above the bolt or notch out to go around your jack plate bolt

Ended up just mounting it on the transom below the jackplate. Biggest pain was pulling the cable through the boat. All done and works great. Thanks for all the suggestions.
