Hi guys,

2017 Nitro Z18 w/ 150 Pro XS.

Anyone else notice oil in the water around their motor when launching the boat?

Almost every time I launch my boat their is a slik of oil in the water around my motor.

I'll take a look back their while I'm fishing throughout the day and sometimes notice a little slik around the motor as well.

Check your gear case oil for water in it (this is a sign of a leak). Also would check to make sure that your oil reservoir under your cowling is full with no air present.

Pull your cowling off and see if there is oil at the bottom. My 150 Pro xs had to have the oil pump changed twice because of leaks.

Bdog: I also had my oil pump changed once...they just put a new one in less than a year ago...yours showed the same symptoms when leaking?

If the pump is leaking would it effect the performance of the motor? Motor always still runs great.

Sometimes I wonder if its coming from the grease we use on the motor and jack plate?

Could be that.

Could be alot of things, trim fluid leak.

Check the LU oil for a milky coloration. Easy enough to do.

Do you have an oil resovoir under the cowling? Is so, it is probaby leaking when you tilt the motor up to trailer. The reservoirs are known to leak. My 2018 250 ProXS has only 15 hours and mine leaked, replace under warranty.
