    Optimax

2001 200hp mercury optimax (serial #OT273691). Cranks good. Idles good....dies when you put it in gear. Like three or four times....finally gave it a little gas as I shifted! Sluggish out of the hole....like almost won't get up. Ends up running 58 mph and should be running 67 normally.

Scratching my head. Mechanic fixed a reed, changed plugs, and wires, and also said I needed fuel rails....changed them too.

    Anyone got ideas?

So. As mentioned, got new fuel rails and injectors. Only running 4600 rpms and should run 5700 or more. Mechanic said he thought I needed air injectors..... Says it not holding air pressure like it should I'm no mechanic ....just sot think that's right. M I really think it's something little that he has missed....but then again, I'm no mechanic!

Find a better mechanic.......TOO much parts replacing, with the same results.

What are the fuel and air pressures?
Do the air injectors leak air when pressurized with a remote air source?

Start from scratch. Check all of the basics- Compression, Spark, Correct Plugs/Gap, Fuel Quality/Delivery/Air-Fuel Pressures, and inspect the REEDS.

    "Fixed" a reed.
