    Lower unit interchange

    Hello All,
    I do not have Serial number and model number available.
    My question is this: Are two and four stroke lower units inter changeable? specifically on the 2002 Merc 225 Optimax Saltwater powerheads?

    No. Driveshafts ARE different.


    Dual Mercury Master Technician- for Mercury Outboards, Mercruiser and Mercury Racing at European Marine in Greenville, SC.
    Still consider myself a "Marine Apprentice" after 47 years (learn something new every day).

    there were no v6 4 strokes back then,your options are really, 3 liter service/fleetmaster or torquemaster gen 1

    Actually there was one... for one year. The 4-stroke gearcases have a completely different driveshaft, though.
