Sometimes, depending on if there is pressure in either front or back direction. So when you stop move the truck SLIGHTLY forwards if you were backing, or backwards if you were going forwards, that sometimes helps.

I think that could be why 'they' recomend that the cup and ball are kept greased.

As posted above, once finished backing trailer pull slightly forward. This will relieve the pressure and will come off without a hitch (pun intended)....hahahahaha!

I back in, then idle forward just a bit and hit brakes hard. This allows hitch ball to rock back n forth a settle in center.
Then I put a cheap plastic chock under front of jack wheel to keep it rolling forward and it lifts straight off.
If your drive is slightly slanted down, then put chock behind jack wheel.

If there's a slight incline towards the truck it will do it every time. Like said, bump it forward a hair.

I have one small trailer that has a tight cup. Have to do the bumper jump every time. Once it is on it is loose enough. It is the opening that is tight. Could get in there with a grinder I suppose...

Isn't this standard protocol? I do it all the time. Rednecks have to be resourceful lol.

You still stuck? Spray some...anything inside it from the bottom.

If you are free just use them lube shown or really anything. Dry metal on metal is never a good thing for very long.

I just use regular marine grease from a grease gun on the ball and smear it around. Never a problem.

I have done this and I have also used 90W oil which is so thick it almost like a liquid grease. I rub a light coat on my hitch ball about once or twice per year.
