Humminbird Helix 7 SI map loading issue...

I have a gen 1 Helix 7 and maps take a long time to load.
Is this normal? It's a lot longer than 10 to 20 seconds...
When zooming in and out, the delay also happens.

I have Lakemaster, not the large area maps, just a local chain of lakes.
Is there a setting I'm missing?

My Helix 7 SI does the same thing. Sometimes takes up to 30 seconds after zooming in or out

That cannot be normal, or expected...

I think that is common with the first generation Helix 5's and Helix 7's. Large file map cards are the issue.
Using Navionics+ cards, some have deleted the installed maps and only downloaded the waters they need to avoid the slow processor issue with those units. Low end Lowrance units do the same.

    Thanks for the reply.
I have Lakemaster Chart Select for one chain of lakes in Florida. I have improved the refresh speed a bit by going back into the settings. It's still slower than expected.

Do you have hundreds of waypoints in the unit's memory?

OK, I guess your choice would be to zoom out a couple of levels to help with the map processing.

That's the main problem; zooming in and out.

Gen1 7's were about as slow as the old 500/700 series were IIRC...

Run zoomed out - and zoom in when you're close.

The low end Elite/Hook Lowrance were worse IMO and I have used both.
