How Yamaha Makes Propellers... Interesting and lots of work.

After you watch this video, You can see why every propeller will run different. Even the same style, pitch, etc... This is why when a prop is worked, Some gain more than others. Some props are close to perfect right out of the box and have little to gain. This question comes up regularly. "Will I gain 3 mph from having my prop B&BP?"

Some gain more, Some barely anything....

A skilled craftsman tweaking a piece of metal with a babbitt hammer is old school to say the least. Smith&Wesson still adjusts point of aim on revolvers this way. Thanks for posting Mark!

If memory serves me correctly our own MARK CROXTON used to work for Precision Propeller before Yamaha bought them.

Well that would explain the craftsmanship. They lost a good employee when they lost him.

Yes... He was a designer and worked there 26 years before he went on his own.

With that many different sets of hands involved in the final tweaking, I can see how each one can be slightly different. I"'ll keep sending every new prop I get to Mark for final perfection.

OK. Now I don't feel so bad about having to buy a new one. Lots of work by people who know what they are doing. Good video.
