SUZY.....df70...throttle/shifter cable replacement.....any words of advice???

2 days ago replaced the impeller that went out. finally got time to fix it...took it out on the water today....and the gas connector failed. got that swapped out. down to the boat ramp....shifter cable breaks. dealership had what I needed.....swapped out cables and now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to adjust them. engine wont start due to it being "in gear"....any help would be appreciated.
You should know that in bee tending if you don't shut your trap the bees will get out.

You should be able to twist the connecting end of the cable at the motor until it is the right length to match the lever that puts the motor in and out of gear. Make sure the part at the motor is in neutral, and the gear selector is in neutral and then adjust the length of the cable. Then attach the cable with the cotter pin or lock nut (whichever that motor uses).
