I use 1/2 oz. or 3/4 oz. spinnerbaits mostly; when I throw a spinnerbait. Years ago; I think I only use 1/4 and 3/8 oz.
I think I changed after seeing a few articles and videos; and one I can remember the pro saying he always used 3/4 oz. except in the Post Spawn; and he would use 3/8 oz. What determines what weight you use? Also; anyone have a good rod recommendation for throwing 3/4 oz; somewhere in the 6' 9" lenght? Thanks
I change weight primarily based on the depth I am targeting, and like you, primarily use 1/2-3/4oz baits. 0-3ft I will go smaller, but generally 2-5 I'll use 1/2 and 4-8 I'll use 3/4. I almost always downsize my blades on the 1/2 and 3/4oz baits so I can get them deeper and still reel them pretty at a decent pace. No rod recommendation from me, I use a 7'3" or 7'6" rod depending on the cover.
