I have a 2004 496 charger with that same motor 2008 on it. Running a Tempest Plus. Atlas 8" JP 2 1/2 Prop to pad. Here in Colorado at 5k feet I have to run a 21 pitch and run right at 55. If i go up in pitch then it's dog out of the hole. Go to Missouri and run a 25" Tempest Plus and get around 65 GPS. Hole shot is great even with a full tank of fuel (44gals) and both live wells full..

Just want it to run the best it can and maybe I'm there. But, it doesn't cost to try and I'm a little stubborn. I'm still at 4 1/ 2 inches below pad even though I'm at 8 dots on my slidemaster. I'm on the second hole on the motor. If I have no problem hitting 6000 rpms it just seems that I could prop up just trying to find a prop I can try to see if it works. If I keep raising the motor I don't want to harm my motor and over rev it but if what I'm seeing is right on these boards I'm still inches away.

With the f225 you won' t see the speeds you will with a SHO. 65mph was around the norm when we were running that set up. Great work motor but Yamaha didn' t have it figured out yet.

I’d rather tell him the truth. Unachieved expectations is harder to take than that’s a 65 mph rig.

I understand Pat and appreciate the help. I'm still going to try a bigger prop when I can find one and play with height a little more. If that's all I can get than that's that but at least I have exhausted all options.
