    Angry Grass is dying

And it's bad. Try pulling into Piscataway and fishing the milfoil bed.

LOTS OF RAIN, MUDDY WATER, NO SUN LIGHT, DOESN'T HELP THE GRASS GROW

As mentioned above. Constant heavy rain and flooding with muddy water for a solid 6 weeks in spring and throw in that blow out tide we had in the spring doesn’t help the grass grow as it should.

Being more specific, will the milfoil start growing? All I have been finding is hydrilla and eel grass.

^ I don't think so. Hydrilla, coontail, stargrass, eelgrass, etc will continue to emerge but it's far from the same.

There will not be any new milfoil until next year.

No one can control the grass cycles. Just fish what's there.

I don't know. Aquia was a garden of Eden back in 06-2010 and hasn't been close in many years. There is a area I always caught fish, filled with milfoil that disappeared and hadn't been back. Punching mats has been non existent. Sure there is good hydrilla before the railroad bridge but past that is nothing like it used to be.

So just accept that this could really mess with the river for a few years? Looking like 2020 is gonna be a repeat of 2012.

Speaking of grass, last Thursday I went to the back of the Chic to look around on an incoming tide. At three feet deep it was like an aquarium it was so crystal clear. Never saw it quite like that before.

Don’t be so close minded to fishing strictly grass. Fish still have to eat. Learn to adapt.

What about future spawns, health of yoy, and carrying capacity of the river? Same problem in 2012.

Just fish the moment don't be so closed minded. Plenty of new wood in the river and high water will make the fish move shallow. Had about 20 pounds flipping the cherry trees up in DC and heard of some big bags cranking the gas stations off of Occoquan.

I have kept Potomac logs since 2003 and we get wash out years due to heavy spring/summer rains in addition to drought summers where you can catch blue fish & flounder in Aquia during July/August. Both events cause grass to die off and regrow in various areas. It's the nature of a tidal river system. I grew up fishing the Cooper & Edisto tidal rivers in SC with the same conditions. Fish what your given that year and the next will be totally different.
