    Fuel problem?

I have a Suzuki 175 that i am having problems with. I just got it and it will crank and run when i shoot starting fluid in but it dies shortly after. It seems like it is not getting fuel but the bulb is tight. Any help? Thanks for your time.

Do you know if the previous owner of your boat has replaced the fuel lines? After awhile, the liner inside of the fuel lines will break down and wreak havoc on your fuel filter and everything else.

Definitely. The ethanol in fuels today can ruin fuel lines that were made in the past. Very good suggestion, booter.

I will replac them. Is it best to run non-ethanol? I was wondering about that. Also, what is the best oil/ gas ratio for my motor?

If I remember correctly, doesn't the DT series motor have an oil tank mounted on the motor and it mixes the fuel automatically? I had a '99 DT200 and that was case and not sure if yours is the same or not. In regards to fuel, it's okay to run fuel with ethanol in it, just be sure to treat it if you are not using it much between outings.

I'm not sure. You can probably get your motor serial number and call a dealer. They can tell you what oil to use. Might even be able to find it on Suzuki website. Another great source I have been talking to about my motor is a place called Outboard Specialties. They are a Suzuki dealer in Florida. I went to their Facebook page and messaged them.

Here is a place where you can download the owner's manual. That manual should tell you what oil to run and what ratio. I strongly suggest ordering the service manual as well.

You can probably run either Yamalube or Mercury Premium Plus. I use to run Pennzoil Marine 2 Stroke Oil and had zero issues.
