My daughter has a basketball tournament at the expo center starting July 4. This is our first year going to this one and I have been told traffic is horrible on July 4 in louisville and the drive will take much longer than usual. We will be coming from Evansville Indiana. What route should we take. What areas should we avoid? We have to be at the Expo center at 3:30 EST and its usually just shy of a 2 hour drive from our house taking 64 to louisville. Thanks for the help.

Our last game July 4 should be done just before 9pm. Are there any good fireworks displays around the expo center we can take the team of girls to? Not sure we will have time to drive them to the waterfront or possibly don't want to get in that mess with traffic. They have to be up early and back at the expo center Thursday morning ready to play.

When I lived in Louisville I don't remember traffic being all that bad, most people were off work so the congestion at peak hours was much less.

Yeah traffic should not be an issue. If it was a work day traffic coming in might be a bit of a pain but that's not the case.

Fireworks wise I think they might shoot off some from the BATS stadium. They used to have 4th of July concerts on the river but I'm not sure they do any longer.

Thats great news. Sounds like if I just plan on an extra hour I should be more than good. We can always hang out and watch other games if we are early.

Are your games at the Fair Grounds? If so thats where Kentucky Kingdom is so there maybe a backup at the gates to pay for parking.

i remember back in 2012 or 2013 they use to shut down the I-65 bridge going from louisville to clarksville In for some fire works, do they still do that?

Every year, it's in April, it kicks off the Kentucky Derby celebration. Awesome air show and one of the top fireworks shows in the country. The fireworks show is usually re-aired on tv on KET for the 4th.
