Broke a bearing buddy (UFP) bought a new one and it doesn't quite fit. Threw the micrometer on it and its ~.003" bigger??? should i try sanding it?

I'd probably throw it in the freezer overnight and see if it fits then.

You are probably comparing it to the crushed size on the old one. Bigger hammer. It is an interference fit and supposed to fit tight.

Because introducing moisture to a bearing is always a good idea, that would be frost by freezing or condensation when removed from freezer

We aren’t talking about a bearing, but we are talking about a cap that gets dunked in the lake. Some lakes are wet. Absolutely the normal way to install an interference fit item if you don’t have liquid nitrogen available.

Let me check my liquid Nitrogen bottle, get right back to you. If it didn't have an interference fit it would easily fling off.

Check www.bearingbuddy.com. /products. I count 12 individual sizes and some of those are only thousandths of an inch diff from each other. They also give pointers on how to measure for the size you need.

Or you can use a bigger hammer!

Or use the proper size UFP Trailer Buddy for the UFP hub.
