Opinions please on re-powering
2004 X17 pro, 96" beam, rated for 135, currently powered by 2004 115 optimax, 21p Trophy, and has always been a turd out the hole. I'm thinking on a 2018 150 pro CS, which is only 24 pounds heavier than the rated 135. Thoughts?

Unfortunately motor manufacturers have left a big hole in the horsepower lineup, 115 to 150, and those that have a boat that fall into that hole have few options. I also had a hull that was rated for 135. I was running the optimax 125 and I repowered with a standard 150 optimax, not pro xs. I did look at the Suzuki 140 but that would have been more money for the rigging. Things that did or did not happen when I did this; I didn't die in the streets/on the lake, my boat did not sink, I did not get sued for being overpowered, I did gain like 9 mph, my insurance company did not give a damn that I put a 150 on my boat, DNR officers did not write me a ticket for being over powered nor did they even check, I did burn less fuel. This reflects my experience in doing this and I ran this setup for 4 years before I got my X19, your experience may vary and others will tell you different.
