    Spy bait hooks,go stock?

I've never fished a spy bait but my buddy pulled one out yesterday and proceeded to catch 2 smallies and have 2 others come off on a VERY tough day on the water when nothing seemed to work.I'm sold on the things. Even though they look like nothing coming through the water, the darn things catch fish under tough conditions. He was throwing the Duo 80 size.

My question is,do you guys throw the better ones (Duo and Jackal) with the stock hooks or is there something better.I watched Tactical Bassin video where Matt Allen sugessted changing them out but I couldn't find the link he provided for the tackle used on the video. He was demonstrating the Duo and Jackal.

I use the duo spybaits and I haven’t changed the hooks yet but I plan on going to a lighter wire. I think I lose fish on them because I’m not getting the hook through with a spinning rod. I’m going to try some VMC barbarian which is the hooks on vision 110’s

I’d bet a fair sum that the Tactical Bassin’ guys would’ve suggested the Gamy Aaron Martens G-Finesse hooks as replacements...

On a Duo or Jackall, I'd change rods or line before I changed the hooks. Sounds more like a hookset problem, or perhaps the fish were slashing at the bait and got foul-hooked...temporarily. If I bought some of the Storm Arashi spybaits, new hooks might be on the menu, but I don't know what brand they come with.
