    2001 Cobra repower?

I have a 2001 Viper Cobra 190 with 200 HP Mercury EFI. I got a new power head 3 years ago and now my mechanic told me I need a new one again. I really don't want to go this road again after spending $7K three years ago. So my question is, does it make sense to re-power? The new Mercury 4-strokes 175 HP are about $12,500.00 Would that give me enough power? Any advice appreciated.

175 Pro XS or the 200 Pro XS new Merc imo. How fast are you running with that 200EFI?

I was in the same position a few years ago. Blew my 200 EFI for the second time. Was thinking of getting a new motor, but putting that kind of change on an old boat didn't make sense after I ran the numbers. Decided to go with another older motor, but went up to a 225EFI. Got lucky and traded my 200 and $2000 for the 225 installed.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I'm running the numbers and don't think that new motor makes much sense. I migh be getting new power head instead...

I've got a 188, same as 190, with a 150 on it. Runs just fine though you'd be hard pressed to break 60mph. :)

Looks like it is rated for a 175 according to the archives.
