Choose two lakes to Fish in Oct.

Wife and I are taking a weeks vacation in Oct. and she has mentioned to me to pick two lakes to fish.

She wants to stay a couple days at one, then the same at the next.

We live in the Houston area, and they would have to be driving distance from there.

I already fish Lake Houston, Lake Livingston, and Lake Fayette.

Any suggestions for other lakes and places to stay while there.

that would be a big plus.

I have always wanted to fish Rayburn, but feel my skills are not up to that level. New lakes intimidate me alot, and would probably need some guidance on where to maybe start.

Rayburn will usually fish good in any location so try picking a section and just stay in that area several days. Don't let the shear size of the lake intimidate you. Five Fingers or Veach would be my first choices.

If you're fishing Houston and Livingston a lot, Rayburn will seem like the Promised Land. It fishes infinitely better than both of those ponds for any skill level.

In theory u need less skill to catch fish on Rayburn. Now if u wan to to compete and make money on Rayburn that is another story.

Sam Rayburn stay at Jackson hill and shoot across main lake to the Canyons stay in the boat lane once you get clos to the canyons idle in and start fishing. Then drive to Lake Fork or Toledo Bend.

If you don't want to fish big waters the I would pick Naconiche and Fayette. Great small lakes. The are are some nice cabins around Naconiche not sure on Fayette. Google search will help you.
