The Javelin 400 was renamed Renegade 20 in 1999 when Javelin changed the top cap. They done nothing to the hull because it is one of the best hulls ever made regardless of what brand of boat you are talking about. Then when Javelin was phase out Stratos started making a Stratoss 200 which has the same hull as an older Javelin 400 or Renegade 20....Javelin 400,Renegade 20, Stratos 200 all the same hull just different top cap lay out...one of the best hulls ever made.

Does anyone have any comments about a 1989 Javelin 396 DC Hull? I came across one that was basically given to me with a 200 GT Johnson on it. But, I'm curious about the Javelin 396 Hulls.

They where good boats for there time and entry level boats then ,as i was told . They where some of the first boats(Javelin ) for Tx that Earl made after selling Stratos and strated Javelin Boats . The 389 and 396 boats . They where equal to the older Stratos ,with out all the bells and things .

I can only compare my son's 20' Blazer which about beat my kidneys out in a 2' chop to my boat and there is no comparison. My boat has a very deep V that definitely cuts the big waves. I yet to be in water that was rough enough to get that sledge hammer poundig effect. I'm not saying there is water that will do that, just haven't been in it yet. Had an R-72 Ranger that did okay for a
16 1/2' boat but no comparison to my 20' PG

my 20ss has same lower hull as the javelin (after it was recalled I believe). everyone who fishes with me says it rides and drive very nice. also co-fish out a a 201 pro and also very nice ride.

We have a javelin renegade 20/225 Johnson HO. Had a javelin 389/fastrike combo. Both absolutely outstanding! Now have a stratos 294 evo and it's right there with them. Outstanding hull for sure.

Is there a specific model of the Javelin that is considered to be one of the best hulls ever made. If this model that I'm referencing is not the best then is it at the top of the list of best hulls ever made.

Yep. The 400 Javelin was turned into the 200 Stratos. I had an '05 200 Pro with a 225 E-tec H.O. That was a great boat and one of my favorites. Unfortunately, like the Javelin, they are no longer produced.

I ran a 05 200 ProXL for 9 seasons and absolutely loved the boat and ride! I ran that boat in many nasty St. Clair waves and it never let me down. It is a bone dry ride even in foul conditions. I'm now in a Z520C Ranger which is a great boat but it doesn't handle nearly as well as my old 200ProXL, nor is it as dry. I would have bought another Stratos but I gained the strong impression from numerous dealers that the brand's days are numbered. Good luck!

I'm running a 400 T with a 225 SHO and it eats the rest of the cookie cutter brands up with 225s . It will also run with a lot with 250s on mainstream boats and out preform some.

The Javelin 389, 400 and 409 were all good riding boats.

I have a 409 T DC and it looks like a brand new boat, perfect condition, and it rides very good, and is a dry ride, everyone that rides in says it is the best riding boat they have ever rode in, I see alot of resemblence in my hull and some of the older stratos hulls,
