I only hope their new motors will be solid. I owned two Opti's that bit that dust right after the warranty was expired. And, I had a couple friends who had issues with their SHO engines. At the price they want for these engines...a price of a car....one would figure they would.....hold up well.
One of the many things i hate about my ProXS( list is long) is the sound ,, especially the pathetic wheezing sound it make at idle , i guess due the damn compressor , then at wide open it just sounds pathetic,,, give me a smooth growl of a four stroke (v6 or v8) any day , so look forward to the day i can get this POS off the back of my boat and get a four-stroke in it's place ,,, ProXS should have been phased out many years ago,,,, good riddance
and my point is if you are moving, you generate pressure waves in the air, and those pressure waves slow down the rate of travel of the sound waves.
that's part of why when you hear the boat coming, it is not very loud, but once it passes you, it is significantly louder, because the pressure waves from it moving are no longer affecting the sound waves rate of travel
I didn't say it was not safe because the sound is behind you, I said the sound is louder behind you..................and I do not feel loud pipes save lives, I think it is just annoying. Paying attention when driving is much more effective.
If it is coming up behind you, why in the heck are you getting out of the way...you have the right of way ?
That's just ignorance and 'following the crowd'...they think a loud exhaust means more power....it doesn't.
Kinda like the droopy pants thing, how is that better for anything except taking a dump ???? It's not, it's a 'be like mike' type thing.......

Agree!
Here’s part of an article I copied to explain it better about LOUD Pipes on motorcycles saving lives! Riders that piss me off the most are the ones that have straight pipes and keep blipping their throttles at red lights or gas stations begging for attention. When I come out of the gas station and someone is blipping their throttle I walk up to them and ask if their is something wrong with his bike and why it won’t idle without giving it throttle. Sometimes they get the point, lol.
I honestly can’t tell if people really believe it, or it's just a nice justification when someone says their bike is too loud, but I think it's the dumbest thing commonly heard from riders.
Let's start with some basic physics and a little rationality. Your exhaust is pointed backwards and by the nature of you traveling forward, you're actually leaving the sound behind you as you move forward. If that concept is confusing, think of the sound of a fire truck passing you with its siren blaring. The siren is pointed forward because the purpose is to warn driver’s the truck is approaching from behind. The next time you hear one coming, notice that it’s louder when it’s coming toward you than when it’s going away.
Now apply that to motorcycle crashes. The one comprehensive, reliable study of motorcycle crashes in this country is the well known "Hurt Report," which is now nearly 40 years old. Harry Hurt and his team found that 64.9 percent of multiple-vehicle motorcycle crashes were the fault of the car driver and “the typical accident in this category is portrayed by the automobile in traffic turning left into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.” A lot has changed in 40 years, but one thing that I think we can all agree hasn’t changed is that the car drivers are still pulling out in front of us. That means the bigger danger is still ahead, not behind, but most of the racket from loud pipes is just pissing off the people behind you, while doing very little to warn those in front of you.
Your headlights and horn, however, are pointed ahead. If you really were so concerned with an upgrade that could save your life, you’d add aftermarket auxiliary lights and upgrade your horn. But then you’d run the risk of looking like a dork instead of sounding like a badass.
Google the Doppler Effect if you want to know why sound is louder be hind the moving object than ahead of it. My grandpa had a truck so loud it would give you a headache just riding down the interstate. cars would still pull out in front of him. Deer too!
They do.....there is this 1 guy who has a HD, and he drives in to work about the same time I do each morning when I am on a regular work schedule. It is louder than normal due to his mods.
1 section of the drive is like wall street, 25 mph speed limit, with buildings on both sides, and as he drives down that section and to where he parks, which is still a walled in area (may do it all the time, I don't know) he blips the throttle about every 5 seconds. It is so dang loud and annoying, and for no reason.
Some mornings, I just want to go over and knock his helmet off with a baseball bat !
And in your article....a badass is someone who knows he has the power, not someone who tries to tell everyone he does with a loud exhaust.....kind alike a sandbagger or sleeper that only shows it when needed.

If they only knew that they’re being douche bags and giving motorcyclist bad names and the public hating us more with that stupid bs.
The only thing I can think of is mom and daddy didn’t give them attention when they were kids so now that they are adults, ride Harley’s and dress like Pirates, they have the look at me, Hey, Look At Me with the blipping of the throttle!
Stimulation of the experience? Cars like the ones you mentioned above, yes! Skater boats, yes! They’re race cars / boats!
A Ferrari or Cobra has performance, handling, brakes and sounds great, and let’s face it, you don’t see many in the street compared to thousands of cruisers blipping their throttles at every red light!
A Cruiser which is also the slowest motorcycle made compared to Sport bikes, weighs a ton, doesn’t handle worth a crap and Drag Pipes which doesn’t help engine performance at all, not so much! It’s all about, Hey! Look At Me! Begging for attention!
