    train derailment

    http://www.kwwl.com/story/38486990/2...acuation-order

Seems like every year there's a train derailment around here. Usually along a river. Hate seeing things like this. I wish the railroads would spend some of their money to repair the dilapidated bridges that they have. Some of them along the Missi are so bad it makes me nervous to go under them.

Did high water have anything to do with it?

Could have softened the rail bed.

Would those happen to be some of WB's tanker cars?

But Keystone XL is a bad thing.

    Apparently yes.
A BNSF spokesman didn't immediately return a call

Is this a Bakken crude unit train or regular crude oil?

The environmental company my son works at is sending everyone they have and all their equipment from Springfield Missouri to help clean it up.

A good reason for the pipeline that Warren doesn't like.

We had a 10,000G spill on the rail spur, nothing but dirt underneath it.
Cost to date ... $1,400,000 and growing constantly.
A spill as shown in the photo, no idea but it's really, really expensive.

A lot of speculation but no facts. One post contains a fact and that is high water.

well it's crude oil and it's flowing into the Big Sioux River----- Which flows into the Missouri, which flows into the Mississippi

If someone on the dirty side would have just shut his pie hole the last 8 years

If all that's in those cars is crude oil it's not as bad as it could be. Some of the chemicals that gets put in those type cars would potentially kill the whole ecosystem in those rivers. Not that the oil is good or anything

You can cover the world with pipelines. Trains will still be used to transport oil. Spills or leaking pipelines are just a fact of life that will occur from time to time. Trains and trucking were much bigger opponents to pipelines than environmental activist.

and that is why I have no desire to travel anywhere by train. I worked for BNSF for 30 years. They repair as opposed to maintaining. All Class 1 roads are that way nowdays. Bean counters are shot callers and the FRA sees no evil and hears no evil. I'll pass.

Wrong on some accounts with class 1 railroads. Fra holds some accountable.

As long as that profit margin is rising, that's all that matters. I see it every day at work, although it's not at a railroad
