    Z-7 Hull Replacement

My boat problems are finally being taken care of. Let me start off by saying that David and Chris at the BPS here in Bossier City has really bent over backwards to take care of me. Heres the story: After a hook was finally found in my hull, my boat was sent back to the factory to be assessed and to make a decision on what they were going to do to make things right. I just got word that they are replacing the hull and putting my existing top cap on the new hull. I am happy with that as long as its done correctly. Production started on the new hull this past Wednesday. Now, can anyone give me a ballpark idea on how long it should take to get the boat finished? I don't know a lot about the building process and am just curious. I don't mind waiting at all, just curious.

Shipping is the unknown, good news is plenty of MY 19s being ordered and going to all stores.

No idea how long it takes to take everything off and put it on the new hull.

That is wonderful news. My guess (and that is all it is) is 8 weeks.

I just got mine back from the factory from same issue. When they told they were going to replace the hull it took them about a week and a half to complete. It took about 6 weeks turn around time for mine. Now my hull is straight as an arrow....

They still have the z-7 mold? That’s good if they do.. thought they would sub out a z-18... good news regardless man. What did you notice different before discovering hook? Was performance that significant drop?

Guys, thanks for the replies and I apologize for not getting back on here sooner. I am beyond happy with what they are doing to take care of me and the issue. I thought I was going to get a Z-18, but apparently they still have the Z-7 mold. Im totally fine with that. In regards to how I noticed the issue, is my RPM's wouldnt get above 5200(on a good day), and the bow would not come up. I replaced the bunk boards, looked under the boat and saw the hook. It was unbelievable. Even the people at BPS here is Bossier City couldnt believe how bad it was. Speaking of BPS here in Bossier, I want to give a BIG shout out for David and Chris. Those guys have gone above and beyond to make things right for me, and I plan on writing a letter to their big bosses and let them know. Also, I have seen many people complain about customer service and such from Tracker/Nitro. I may be the exception, but I have always been treated fairly and they have always made things right. Hopefully when I get my boat back, the quality of workmanship will be good and I will still be able to brag.

I just got my z7 back two weeks ago. From the time it arrived at the factory till it made back to my dealer was 6-7 weeks. They did a really good job, also repaired a few things I didn't even ask for.

I would be really careful before I took possession again. That is a really fast turn around on an out of production hull.Just my .02 cents worth.

Not really. He said production started on his new hull before the 22nd. Most boats are done in a week or just over. They didn't have to do wiring or anything either, no carpet, seats or any of the top cap stuff

What is a hooked hull? I recently bought a 2013 Z7. I haven’t put it in the water yet. What should I look for?

The hull not being flat where it is supposed to be, get a strait 2x4 and lay it from the back of the boat (transom) forward, in between each of the bunk boards. If the is a gap or bulge your performance will suffer when trying to go fast, no side affects while fishing.

I'm not too sure what a hooked hull is but I had one once. I bought a new Stratos in 1999, a 19 plus footer with a 200 Evinrude. I hadn't had it long when I got a letter from OMC telling me there was a hook in the hull, not to make any tight turns with it and keep the speed below something I can't remember. The letter said the hook could cause the boat to spin out on tight turns at speed potentially ejecting the driver and passengers. Shortly after that I got another letter telling me not to use the boat and to return it to the dealer. A new hull would have to made. The boat was returned to the factory and before I could get a replacement built OMC filed for bankruptcy. It took over a year but Genmar bought OMC out and finally agreed to take care of me. Instead of replacing the hull I got a whole new boat, motor, trolling motor, trailer and accessories I had ordered with the original boat. Turned out not to be a bad deal as I got a 2000 model and a tandem axle trailer instead of the single the original boat had. I sold it after a couple of years to a fellow who still has and uses it.
