ON my 2018 520L, the Lowrance units came from the factory with the Ranger Controls. Where you can control all the buttons that are on the push buttons from the Lowrance units as well. I think they are called 'Z Control'.
If I want to upgrade one my units to a HDS 16, how do I get these installed on a new Lowrance unit?
I don’t know, but that probably is a software setup, and you should be able to connect the new unit to the Lowrance web site and download what you need. Either ask your Ranger dealer, or copy the same question over to the Lowrance board.

Why would you want to do that when the buttons are right next to the MFD??
Supposedly (from Lowrance), the unit’s software will detect the brain of the Ranger and display those controls when connected via NMEA2K.

Turn off digital switching in features on the head unit. This disables the Z-Control side bar.
