    trolling motor wiring/plug question

I'm new to owning a boat...

I'm replacing a 14 year old trolling motor on my Triton. It was plugged in to a 3-pin receptacle.

I'm purchasing an Ultrex (it should be here today). While looking at the installation guide online, I don't see any mention of a plug or anything.

I assume it doesn't come with a plug and I'll need to purchase a new one?

Does anyone wire the trolling motor directly to the battery and skip the plug? Is that unsafe? Obviously it's more difficult to remove the trolling motor, but I have no need to do that (unless something just goes wrong). I can see how I would have to be careful about making sure the wire isn't somewhere that could get snagged/pulled/etc.

You are correct.. they don't come with a plug.
It can be wired with no plug but it is strongley advisable to have some way to cut power from batteries to troller..
IMO -- use a plug that is easy to get to..

Here is the one I bought for my Ultrex. It is the best one I have ever owned.
