    Lakes that fluctuate the least

Hi - I know there's always going to be some drawdown in the winter on a lake, but which lakes do you find are the most stable the rest of the year? I'm looking to put together a list of lakes in a 5 state area - TN, GA, NC, SC, KY - that you find have stable water most of the year, with minimal drawdown in winter.

I know Oconee in GA has only about a 12"-18" fluctuation daily. And Douglas in TN can have wild fluctuations, especially for drawdown.

    What are your favorites?

Taylorsville in KY only drops like 24" in the winter. With said the fishing is tough.

Any Corp. or TVA will have a winter draw down... Some greater than others... Dan

Guntersville falls less than most of the TVA reservoirs. Much less than Chickamauga or Watts Bar or any of the high country inpounds

Yep I think they only allow for 12" variations. But unless an emergency for a storm or something crazy it rarely fluctuates more that 6" or so.

Very little if any drawdown on Guntersville or Nickajack in the winter because they tend to be shallower than other TVA lakes. Drawing those two down would endanger barge traffic.

Try don’t draw the water down much at all in the winter. Only time it really fluctuates is when we get a lot of rain or there is a drought.

Lake Richard B Russell is pretty much the same level year round. Major rain fall is the only impact of lake level being above full pool and never more than a foot or 2 below full pool.

Only lake I can think of around here that doesn't drop is Melton Hill. There is normally a drawdown in early spring for 2 weeks so dock owners can do repairs and that is it.

Yep by law its limited fluctuations, Lake Kerr is used to keep it at a certain level which makes Kerr rather insane sometimes. Plus the fishing is great on Gaston.

My home lake is consistently dropping, currently 42ft low and see no sign of rain in the future.
