Blazer 190 Optimax 225 Lower Unit Question

I have a 2005 Blazer 190 with an Optimax 225 on it. It has a stock Servicemaster lower unit and it is on the fritz. I want opinions of whether I should go back with the 1.75:1 ratio or move to a 1.62:1 ratio when I upgrade. I currently have a TXP OT4 25 pitch on it now. Is there any benefits or negative impact to the change? What do you guys think?

If I went with a 1.62, it would be in a Sportmaster case.

25 pitch tells me your doing mid 70's at best. Sportmaster is for consistent speeds of 85+. With 1.62's you'll have to run smaller pitch props to get motor in correct RPM band and most probably holeshot will suffer. I would look for a Gen1 torquemaster. Pretty affordable used ones around. Try Scream and Fly.

With his set up now, the boat should run low 80s. That's dangerous with a 190.

Not with a 25 pitch prop and 1.75 gears.

Rebel, You have no idea how much I would like to make that happen! You give me the word, a price, an address, and a date and I will hook up the boat... =)
