    Lake Michigan

I've often thought about making a trip up to fish the northern shoreline of Indiana. I've heard a few things about the fishing & I'm not sure how much of it you can fish with an Indiana license, Anyone have any experience with taking their bass boat up there?
Do's Don'ts, places to put in & maybe places to stay away from
or is it really even worth the thought
    thanks

I've read some articles, I really was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences.
maybe ramps, hotels were to stay were not too.

You can put in at any ramp. Normal charge is 10-15. Plenty of hotels in Hammond, Portage, and Michigan City. The fish are in there. Don't stay in Gary.

    thanks Kyle,
Anywhere but Gary. Most of the ramps fairly safe?
I've been on Erie & St Clair, does the wind / waves get up like those lakes?
How much of the lower end can you fish with an Indiana license? I think I've heard aprox. 4 miles & is it marked in any way?

Yes the ramps are safe. The wind will get the lake churning anywhere from 3 to 8 ft. As long as its not a north wind you will be good. There are break walls you can hide behind as well. Google earth will give you a visual of what its like. There is plenty of area to fish on the Indiana side. Not sure if there are Markers. Here is something that happened the other day.

Fishing on the south end of lake MI will be very different from Clair or Erie...More times then not it will be rough...main ramps are Patricks in East Chicago and Portage Marina. IN waters run from Calumnet Harbor on the North west side to the Michigan City area. The 4 miles you spoke of is going out into Lake MI...you will not be out that far...

Plenty of places to stay right by Portage Marina..This is a tough fishery..there are smallmouth but it fishes very small...
