I have some questions after buying '93 Champ 204.

Hello all, found this board after buying a 93 Champion 204. Very interesting reading through Pat's posts and seeing the demo videos. I picked up my Champ from the original owner who took very good care of it. It is basically all original, carpet, mercury, tm, etc. It has a mercury 225 3L black max on a 6 inch manual JP with a 24p trophy prop. With one buddy and I, 3/4 tank and full livewells and gear I got it up to 64mph. Rooster tail at full trim might be just a little higher than the top of the cowling. Was thinking with a 225 I might be able to get closer to 70 by myself and with a three blade 25 or 26 inch pitch prop. I have it at the shop right now getting a new impeller and lower unit oil. I have heard the tempest recommended. They said they might only have a Fury in that pitch. Think it's worth it or should I look for a tempest? Any other recommendations? This board seems to have a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate any advice. I'll try to post pics when I figure it out.

I've only driven one with a 225 3.0 and he was at a steady 70 with a 25p Tempest and his front boxes light.

Thanks. I think 70 would be a good goal. It cruises nice at like 58 @ 4900rpm. Just got the impeller changed. Was from 1996. Mechanic said it was the oldest he'd ever seen working. Think a 26p tempest would be too long for a 225?
