Apparently not, since thousands have continued to do it.
Don't think the majority of these mothers and fathers knew this would happen. Many are also seeking asylum for credible fears. Those Cartels are not too friendly.

It appears that the large percentage of these kids are abandoned or unaccompanied, plus they are probably in better conditions than what they are used to, clean, well fed, decent clothes and warm/cool place to sleep....a lot more to the story than what the fake news is shoveling..
I disagree. Mental abuse at such young age can be horrific. It is not a large percentage of abandonment or unaccompanied. It may be some that way but it is not a large percentage.

Is this a new feeling or did you have this concern when this practice started years ago? I am all for immigration if done via following the rules. I would not and will not support people who willingly break the though even when kids are involved. I mean if I rob a bank, I am robbing it to provide a better financial life for my kids. If I get caught, I go to jail and my family is broken up. In that scenario I chose to break the law. Try going to a foreign country illegally and let me know what happens. I don’t understand why this is so difficult of a concept to follow. Just my two cents though.
But no one is raising a stink when an American woman goes to jail over theft and her children get put in the system? Stop breaking the law!

Hey... There are now possible (maybe even probable) consequences for entering the U.S. illegally.
If you support the porosity of the southern line that's been jokingly referred to as a 'border' for far too long, now, here's a little challenge...
Pack up your kids and some stuff... enough for 3-4 days (think of it as a little adventure-type getaway)...and sneak into just about any country you can think of (heck... even our northern neighbor)... see how that goes for you when caught...
Then; days, weeks or months later, if/when the chitstorm that you brought upon yourself and your loved ones in that foreign country subsides...
...maybe stop to question the hypocrisy displayed by that very same country demonizing the U.S. for claiming the same rights of autonomy that they so vigorously enforce.
