1 I hate tournaments. No desire to be a good tourney fisherman. They are the opposite of why I fish. 5x3...pass

A 7 before a wife and kid, now a 3 at best. Not enough time to keep up with the patterns when you can’t go all the time.

I truley expect to be in the money every tournament. I spend more time out there than most, and that’s a big part time. No substitute for Time on the water no doubt.

It really turned for me about 6-7 years ago when I just kept getting my butt handed to me by these guys fishing offshore. I just made it a point to dedicate myself out there. Wow what a learning curve it’s been. I use to think anythng over 10 feet was deep. Now if my boat is sitting in less than 20 I start to question if I blowing in on them. lol. It may not be as fun as fishing shallow, and I have some tournaments where I really stink it up, but the fish to win a tournament is offshore a lot of the time. A bigger percentage of those big girls just live out there so thats where I spend my time. That’s true on my lakes at least.
Your absolutely correct. It’s not only about the bigger fish being deep as it is that the banks get pounded Day in and day out. Fish will go deep to avoid pressure. Once you find them it’s game on.

Roc, if you are a solid 3-4, then I must be a 1. We know you take that money down there in south Louisiana.

I think I'm about a 7 out of 10, and for my age, 75, probably a solid 9 among my living peers. I place in about 50% of my 3 club tournaments, which keeps me ahead on entry fees versus payouts. Unfortunately that doesn't factor expenses in.

Well..... The amount of tournaments I fished and the total of 1st place finish, that gives me an 8.5.

I just donate, sometimes I get lucky and have a limit. I just like to fish. I don't fish big tournaments or anything over a $50 entry fee. We mainly like to drink beer and tell fish stories about the big ones that got away.
