I have a javelin 389se with 150 Johnson fastrike. 103 degrees (absolutely brutal) water temp 89 degrees. Croxtonized 25 tempest (about 24 pitch I think) A45 I held 66mph. 9%slip. Havent ran it in the winter yet. Ive tried dozens of props on this setup and the best drivability and overall performance has been a mark croxton worked 25 renegade. You can turn the wheel with your pinky finger and holds it up on plane below 3000rpms. With your 175 id think you wouldnt have a problem turning a for 25 pitch??? Fishnfool38 talked me into the tempest and im glad he did. I think stratosdad on here runs a tempest on that setup as well.

I contacted evinrude, they said I need a 14 X 21 three blade prop on my boat, so now the motor is 4" below the pad turnes 6000 rpm and will do 54 at wot, with the 13 1/2 X 23 4 blade prop the motor turned 5300 rpm and would do 54 at wot. I am at a total loss for what do try next, everyone says this boat should do 65 mph and just fly out of the hole some one will have to show me, I live in Newnan Ga and would welcome anyone to show me how to set up this boat.!!!!

21 pitch is way too small and im afraid if you turn if 6000rpms for very long, your internal components will become external. If you are 3 1/2 below pad, Somethings not jiving if your only getting 5300rpms out of the 23 pitch gade. I suggest you send the 21 back and get a 24 raker. Thats the bread and butter if you will for that rig....

All you need has been said in the above threads. I ran a 24 Raker on mine and it was a mid 60's boat anytime. Get rid of that 21P prop and get you a 24 Raker or a worked 25 Tempest as stated. I didn't have a jack plate on mine, so I can't comment on the engine height.

Do you have a water pressure gauge? If not, you really need to add one to get it dialed in correctly. 5100 is low on the RPM's, so I would bring it up 1/4 inch and retest. Small increments now is the best course of action, run it and see where you are. You will probably go to 3 1/2, but see the results at 3 3/4 and it will tell you if you are on the right track.

Yes I run a Mark C. A45 Tempest. You need to find out why u cant turn that prop 5500 or more. You are not going to find 400 by raising it 1/2" May need to see if your getting full throttle and check the timing ..

I gonna say your tach is off. Thats putting you at 6% slip....I would verify your rpms before I made any changes.

I would agree with you if the 21 pitch prop had not turned 6100 rpm, my jack plate is wrong or I am fouling a plug, the motor cranks easily and runs smooth, I have a 6" High Jacker jack plate it is the old type that adjust on both sides individually.

Where are you running this rig at? As in where are you from and what is the elevation? Thats a 65mph rig....I have a spare 25 renegade thats been B&B by Mark C you could test. Its a 64mph prop on my rig in the dead of summer and I turn it 5600.

I am in georgia and fish mostly West Point lake, and follow the West Georgia Bass Club, When I purchsed this boat it would come on plane in a flash and reach 65 in a heart beat, after I purchased the boat I go hurt and did not run the boat for 4 months, on my initial trip when I went to wot the boat stood up and would not go on plane and would run 49 mph, my conclusion was that the sellers switched props on me.

Went to the lake, prop set @ 3 1/2, boat stood up took for ever to go on plane top end was 58 @ 5100 rpm---adjusted to 4 stood up took forever to go on plane top speed was 55 @ 5200 rpm. Why is the boat standing up (bow lift), it seems to be the same. It gets so high water comes over the transom in front of the motor, I have a 6" high jacker jack plate, it adjust on both sides. and seems to be a wedge shape. It is the old type with two adjusting holes on the top for the adjusting bolts. The motor seems to be low in the water when it does its wheel stand the back of the motor is in the water. My next move is to move the motor to 2 1/2" above the pad, I fish tournaments and it becoming emabarising when the boat will not go. I changed the plugs motor runs smooth cranks easily. Can someone send me a picture of what the High jacker jack plate should look like with the motor on it. I am really frustrated!!

Can you post some picks of your transom, jack plate, and motor at full down trim?
