First time out Helix 10 Mega

Out a few hours to mess around with it. Transducer on TM and didnt get to level it out on the water. Heavy thermocline at about 15'. Some pics boat is obviously goin to slow. I mainly played with the side imaging. Not thrilled with the Di as it does not show fish very well. 2d is disappointing for now but I still need to play with settings.

Artificial fish trees. Nice shots here. Too slow on Di and waves.

Thanks. Those artificial structures (the good 6 foot expensive ones) volunteers are installing all over the 350 acre private lake community in batches of about seven at 12-15' depth just above the thermocline. Most about a year old now and dont hold many fish :(.

Since the MEGA Imaging frequency is so sensitive, the thermocline affects it a lot.

    Pics look great to me.
No sign of trolling motor interference is a good sign on a new install
Try maxing out chart speed on DI to help "stretch" fish returns, but yeah it's hard to see fish on DI.

put the 2d on 200 khz chirp or 200/83 and adjust the mega ranges on your di and si to ping the full range. i also use max mode on di and si but that may not work for your waters

Try the blue pallet, I think the fish show up better under most conditions IMO.
Troy, I'll have to try that max mode on di and si as well, thanks!

I have a ferrite ring somewhere from my old 898 that worked great on that. I will try it.

Does the patch cord that came with it that goes between the power cable and batterey do any thing? ty.

The trolling motor mount or puck comes with a choke cable to help with RFI on MEGA units. If you have an on-board multi-bank charger that is connected to the trolling motor battery/s and the battery the unit is connected to, that is what it is for. If you do not have that setup, it has no use. If is not a sure thing cure for RFI, just one of the dozens of possible RFI remedies.
