Electric brake Actuator vs. Surge Brakes

Dies anybody use an electric Brake actuator as a replacement for their surge brakes? I was looking around and found this kit.
    Hydrastar® Surge Brake Conversion System

my new truck has an electric controller in it. My question is does anybody use an electric brake actuator for their boar trailer? It seems more versatile than a surge brake system.

Yes they are more versatile!! And a great thing to have on big trailers especially when hauling livestock or pulling a trailer that is prone to road walk or when in slick conditions-- The ability to apply trailer brakes only in those situations can be a life saver.
For a bass boat... IMO it's overkill--- but it would be nice..

What kinda truck ? Better check your owners manual as some of these ( recent GM) built in brake controllers wont function with electric over hydraulic brakes. You would end up needing an add on brake controller. How heavy is your boat ? I would think it is over kill on bassboat.

The truck is a 2018 GMC. The boat is a Ranger 520.

$600 to replace a perfectly suited brake system seems like a waste of money

I'm not sure if electric brakes like being submerged.

The OP is talking about an electric over hydraulic controller that keeps using the hydraulic brakes. Electric brakes aren’t much of an option anymore in boat trailers since most have gone to disks

i need a new actuator and my new truck had a controller so that is why I asked the question. Guess I need to start hauling my horses around more to use my controller. Going to get a replacement inner member for my UFP surge actuator and be done with it.
