Hancock filmed them at Calavares and Medina. He was from San Antonio so it was convenient. The flat lake with reeds is Calavaras, a 1,200 acre power plant lake east of SA, Medina is West between I 10 and Hwy 90.

The dude in the champion jacket was a radio announcer buddy of Don's. He did a good job reading the script on something he had no clue about. I guess something like we see today.

And we gave Kelly Powers a FULL ration after his appearance in the video.
He fished with me at Rayburn when a big front came in, and then we went out to look for a lost boat in four footers. He was not happy, I've NEVER seen water like this. Oh that did it.
But you encounter all this bad stuff on the video, you surely can't think a little wind in Texas is anything to get worried about. Jab jab jab...

Was that a TOC on Sam about 2002? Reggie, Skip and I were there for that event that year and the practice days were butt F'n ugly. We had Reggie's 201 and were across the lake over in the black Forrest. Some clown was out in a tri-hull and Champ203 pulled his dumb ass in we launched at the same ramp and got doused. Hate that lake.

That was the 2003 TOC on Rayburn. Friday, Fred & I launched at Cassels-Boykin and worked our way into Harvey Creek pre fishing. We came out to find a norther had blown in and had to idle through the Amber Forrest cross wind to get back to the channel. We got soaked taking waves over the side of my 201. When I dropped Fred off at the ramp, I started to back away had got hit in the back by a wave that came over the stern. Not a fun hour or so at all ...

    It would have been.....96
    I would have been running a 202/XB
2nd day weigh in was RANK. Anyone who's been on Rayburn knows what 30 mph NW wind does to it.

MMosher gave me a demo ride a few years ago at the TOC.

I wager he could be talked into it again!
He was like "you want me to drive your Champion?" . . . Oh Ok I guess I could . . .

He might have been 25...LOL. He was a Champion guy from day one. Somewhere, I have pictures of his first Champ. I met Mike and his folks in the early/mid nineties. Great people! He looked mighty young then....
