Jack plate on smaller boats
Looking to put a Jack plate on my tr175. I posted about it on a Facebook group and was told that it may upset how the boat sits in the water/handles rough water. I was told that moving the weight of the motor back 4-6 inches will upset it to much and make the bow feel lighter in rough water. Had anyone out a Jack plate on a smaller boat and how had it affected your ride? Also I want to get a power pole, do I need to mount it to the Jack plate or can I get the sandwich mounts instead?
Thanks for any reply!

I put one on a aluminum boat with a 70hp and it did not hurt the handling or upset anything. It didn't gain much in the way of mph, maybe 1.5 to 2 mph but it handled and rode better. You may have to get a longer steering cable though so plan for that.
